About Us

At Kirkland Children’s Dentistry, we believe in fairytales. But we also believe that hard work pays off. We understand that oral health success extends far beyond going to the dentist a couple times a year … and it starts with us being here as a resource for you

WE  SPECIALIZE  IN  KIDS.

Our team is specially trained to work with kids, and only kids

Services

An individualized, family-focused approach to dental care

Comprehensive pediatric dental care, with a focus on prevention

We provide professional, wide-ranging pediatric dental care including diagnostic examinations, cleanings, fluoride treatments, restoration of decayed teeth, therapeutic pulp treatments, extractions, and treatment of oral trauma. We enjoy educating our child patients and their parents about proper oral hygiene and diet in hopes that they can help prevent future problems.

Behavior management, sedation, & anesthesia options

We use age-appropriate behavior management techniques. We also have the options of nitrous oxide and oral sedation, if needed. General anesthesia provided by an anesthesiologist is another option available in our office.

After-Hours Care

Because we understand that accidents happen. We commit to being there for our families during the most stressful moments, even if it is outside of normal work hours. While emergency rooms serve as a resource to families, we know that relying on the provider that you have a relationship with is often the best way to work through these stressful moments

Why Put Your Faith In Us

1.

Because that first visit is so important.

We believe that those early dental visits shape a child’s future attitude towards dentistry. If we can provide positive experiences in the beginning, and present dentistry to children in ways that are easy to understand, we can reduce or eliminate any dental anxiety. We know we have done our job well when we hear kids say they’re excited to come back!

2.

Because we recognize each child is wonderfully unique.

We have received special training in pediatrics to be able to give you insight into what to anticipate for your child’s oral growth and development. Additionally, our training in behavior management and sedation gives us the tools to treat children with special behavioral or medical conditions. This means we are able to tailor our treatment approach specifically to what your child needs.

3.

Because preventing problems from ever happening is better than fixing them.

Dental education and prevention is our passion. As we cultivate good oral hygiene in one child, an amazing phenomenon happens as awareness spreads to the whole family, resulting in better oral health for everyone! When a child is taught and empowered to take proper care of the teeth and gums, being cavity-free for a lifetime is actually possible.

4.

Because being a parent is the hardest job there is.

Knowing this, we gladly offer our tips and tricks to make caring for your child’s teeth easier. Our goal is to partner with you as a resource for all things dental. Questions? You can always drop by, email, or call, and we’ll be happy to answer!

MEET THE DOCTORS

Get to know Dr. Escobar and Dr. McCoy.

A smiling doctor with short hair and mustache, wearing a white and blue checkered shirt, radiates friendliness and approachability.

Dr. Julio O. Escobar

Dr. Julio O. Escobar has practiced dentistry since 2008.  He moved to Washington in 2015 and lives in Kirkland with his wife and 2 daughters.  Dr. Escobar appreciates the balance of dedicated work through pediatric dentistry and stimulating family life with running and riding bikes with his kids. In his free time, Dr. Escobar enjoys collaborating with the Seattle Pediatric Dental Study Club, training for marathons, coaching his kids to play soccer, and movie time with the family.

As a pediatric dentist, Dr. Escobar strives to improve the oral health of children from infancy through the teen years.  He believes early intervention, education and prevention are pillars to creating healthy smiles and patients who are comfortable in the dental setting.  Those efforts are also key to establishing long lasting habits and routines while minimizing the possibilities of dental fear or anxiety.  Behavior management and careful attention to parenting styles and family systems are important in determining the best approach for providing dental care for the very young, pre-teens and teenagers.  Dr. Escobar knows this both as a pediatric dentist and as a parent. His office staff and environment will be oriented toward providing a place where children of all ages can feel comfortable.

Dr. Escobar appreciates the intersection of empathetic, efficient, and conscientious clinical care with evidence-based and research-supported treatment modalities.  After obtaining an undergraduate education at the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2000, Dr. Escobar spent formative time as a researcher involved in the Human Genome Project at Stanford University.  He then attended some of the best dental training programs in the nation.  He obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of California, San Francisco in 2008 and completed a Pediatric Dental Residency at the University of California, Los Angeles in 2015. Dr. Escobar was one of two Chief Residents in his UCLA cohort.  Dr. Escobar became a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in 2016. He is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.  He has established himself as a contributing member of the greater Seattle pediatric dental professionals.

The biggest assets Dr. Escobar can contribute to the growth of his private practice are adaptability, empathy and work ethic.  His experience in competitive markets like Arizona, California, Illinois and Washington have provided experience in Staff management, bedside manner and experience in how to integrate productively into his community.
